Are You Listening? Every Season by Top Suzara

Skyline boulevard off the the San Bruno hills bears the brunt of the daily assaults of the famous San Francisco fog. For most that have lived in it, there ensues some kind of a love-hate relationship. You hate the fact that you can leave your house and have nothing but clear blue skies and have the beautiful California sun kiss your skin. Come home an hour later and your beating yourself up for not leaving a hoodie in your car. That is how fast the fog can roll in.

The gray can be dreary, but there also is a lot beauty in it. It can inspire a sense of wonder and mystery. I think it contributes tot the mystical energy that makes San Francisco so alive.

Sitting by the window sill on a wet afternoon in 2003. The immense fog as it rolls in. It’s magnifying the bout I’m having with doubt. And then serendipitously, Bruce Hornsby plays on my iPod.

There’ll be blue skies falling
There’ll be sad scenes and bad dreams
In a world so uncertain
Through the clouds it’s hard to see
I will grab you and lift you
As you hold on tight and sway
We’ll go walking
Across the fields of gray
In a flash, I see hope, I see beauty.

This song Every Season is inspired by that moment.

[devotional by Bebo Bharwani]

Every Season

Bless the moments that you’re near when I can touch your face
Bless the times when you seem far, coz you know I need my space
I thank you for the times when you’re loud, like a thunder roar
I thank you for the quiet times, when my ears are sore

Every season passes by this I know for sure
Every signal every sign
There’s a change coming by
There’s lesson I have learned through the joy and pain
So I will love you just the same I will love you just the same.

I love it when you butter me up,
You know it feels so good
I love it when you stab me in the front like only a true friend should
I thank you for the times you give and give, though I can’t repay
I thank you for the times when you need to take all these things away

Though my eyes deceive me I will still believe
Though my arms are weary I will still hold on
To you

Every season passes by this I know for sure
Every signal every sign
There’s a change coming by
There’s lesson I have learned through the joy and pain
So I will love you just the same I will love you just the same.

Even though the road is long and times slips away
Even when blue skies fall, and I’m trapped in fields of grey
I will trust and know that you can take through the rain
And will love you just the same, I will love you just the same
